I have tried to run in the London Marathon for a few years now, with running the race being an ambition of mine for as long as I can remember. Each time I would either not get a ballot place or simply not be quick enough to register for the ballot itself! This year after having missed out again I was feeling disheartened. Therefore when I saw that vInspired were offering people the chance to enter their own ballot for their first ever charity place in the race I jumped at the chance - and got the place! I have been lucky enough to experience first hand the work that vInspired do and know they are an extremely worthy cause to run for. vInspired gave me the support and funding I needed to deliver two community sports projects, one of which - a free Saturday morning football session - continues to go from strength to strength, engaging with up to thirty young children and their families. These projects have helped not only people in my local area, but have also given me practical skills and a boost in self confidence that at the time I desperately needed. For more about vInspired and why I am running for the charity please visit the 'About' page. So I can now proudly say 'I'm In'! As a keen runner I am strangely looking forward to the training, and especially the prospect of having an excuse to buy some more running gear! Keep checking back here for updates on my training and fundraising - and please support me if you can! |
