Five weeks without a training plan - I actually cannot believe how quickly the time has gone. However, I am really starting to want to have a race to aim for now, and am also missing the feeling of looking forward to race day itself! MONDAY: I started the week with my usual 8.5k loop before my Body Pump class. I took it steady after my longest run in a while on Sunday, but was pleased my legs didn't feel too bad. TUESDAY: Body Attack class and then Fab Abs - I am really enjoying doing some structured and focused abs work at the moment, even if it is frustratingly difficult at times! WEDNESDAY: Double Body Pump day again - despite how hard I found doing this last week, I still found myself wanting to do it again; plus going to the 7am class does not even feel that odd now - I must be mad! The evening class still hurt a lot, and towards the end I could really feel how tired my body was. Doing two Pump classes is definitely a different challenge to try though whilst I am not running as much. THURSDAY: Rest Day FRIDAY: it was very, very cold today, it felt like winter had actually arrived after a spell of mild weather. Having not ran since Monday I was however eager to get out, so laying up and digging out my running headband, I braced the elements (see image). It was incredibly cold, and at first it was unusual to feel the harsh air in my lungs, but I acclimatised and ran a comfortable 10k. | SATURDAY: my friend and I braved the cold and wind at Park Run today, the conditions were certainly a challenge, but a lot less worse than forecasted and made for another new Park Run experience - full blog to follow. SUNDAY: another cold day, but I was actually mentally prepared for this now. I ran ten miles, taking in the same route as last Sunday, and again enjoyed myself. I liked being out in the crisp morning air, and I found myself drifting off into my own little zone, a feeling which reminded me of my marathon training runs earlier in the year. My legs also felt better than last week; no tightness, and I felt I could have ran further if I wanted, whereas last week I was ready to drop! |
